VOLUNTEERS BEING RECRUITED FOR DATA COLLECTION IN JUNE 2008

June 16, 2007 volunteers including landowners and local citizens mapped the San Pedro's waters from within Mexico to its confluence with the Gila River downstream.

  • Efforts initiated in 1999 by TNC and BLM in Sierra Vista Subwatershed
  • CWA coordinates and trains teams of hikers, equestrians, and ATV's to extend project into Benson Subwatershed in 2006
  • GPS units used to identify locations where water begins and ends
  • Annual stats compared to see what changes are occurring in water availability
